Feudo Maccari: A Journey Through Sicilian Winemaking
The Origins of Feudo Maccari
The history of Feudo Maccari starts in 2000 and coincides with the Moretti family’s acquisition of about fifty plots gathered around a single banner, in the region of Val di Noto, in the south of Sicily. Antonio Moretti, the owner of the famous Tenuta Sette Ponti in Tuscany, along with his daughter Monica - both accompanied by renowned oenologists Carlo Ferrini and Gioia Cresti - have, in little more than a decade, managed to make Feudo Maccari one of the most influential wineries in Sicily.
A Commitment to Quality and Tradition
Spread over 50 acres of vines of which most are old plants, the estate produces around 166,000 bottles per year, split into 6 vintages including 3 reds that are frequently awarded and recognized as some of the finest wines on the island: the famous Saia, Nero d’Avola and Maharis. The result of meticulous work and unwavering passion, these wines are grown on fertile volcanic soil from Mount Etna which combines with abundant sunlight and constant winds to create grapes that possess a unique charisma—an exceptional expression of their terroir.
